- Details of Disappearance:
- In 1983, Clifton disappeared from his home in Lakeland, Florida. He’d been at Lake Hollingsworth earlier that day, meeting with friends. He’d just left the hospital and was excited to go back to school. He was supposed to be home by 10 pm, but he never came home and never called.
His friends said he left with someone they didn’t know in a car. He left behind most of his belongings – his new glasses, clothes, and medicine – taking only a small bag, a swimsuit, a change of clothes, and $20. The screen was gone from his bedroom window the next day. His mom reported him missing on August 24th.
Clifton was adopted and had schizophrenia, spending time in the hospital several times. He went to a special class at school for kids with emotional problems, but he’d never run away before. His parents don’t think he ran away that day. His mother is still alive and hoping he’ll be found, but there’s not much information about what happened to him.
