Details of Disappearance:
On June 1, 1992, 7-year-old Corrine disappeared from Skyline Park in Inver Grove Heights, Minnesota. Her brothers went to get her after about five minutes, but she was gone. Her parents reported her missing two hours later.

A boy in the park said he saw a girl who looked like Corrine talking to a man with a dog, but this wasn’t confirmed.

Police suspected Corrine’s family friend, Robert Guevara, who often stayed at their home. Witnesses said he sometimes slept in the same bed as Corrine. Corrine’s mother later told police Corrine had accused Guevara of molesting her that same day, but she didn’t mention it until days later.

Guevara was at the family home the day Corrine disappeared, and police dogs tracked her scent to his home. Police found a dress and underwear matching Corrine’s in Guevara’s locker, stained with blood and semen. There were also bloodstains in his shower. DNA tests showed the stains could be from both Corrine and Guevara.

Guevara’s defense claimed the evidence was planted because his locker and trailer weren’t secure. They also suggested Corrine’s mother might have been involved, possibly trying to kidnap her for ransom. Corrine’s family had a difficult life: frequent moves, relying on welfare, and her mother struggled with drug abuse and mental health issues.

Because of limitations in DNA evidence laws in 1992, Guevara was acquitted. He maintains his innocence. Corrine’s case remains unsolved, and she was declared legally dead in 1994.
