- Ibay disappeared on September 7, 2008. He was last seen at 1:00 PM at his old house in Polk City, Florida, where he still gardened. Later that day, neighbors saw him leaving. His car, a gold 1993 Pontiac Subaru (license plate F966HX), was found abandoned at Gator Creek Preserve in Lakeland at 1:00 AM that same day. His Orlando home was empty. A friend reported him missing two days later.
Ibay was a retired engineer, a father of five, and a former Lakeland Symphony violinist. His wife has Alzheimer’s and lives in a nursing home. He was healthy with no mental health issues. Police think he might be in North Lakeland, Polk City, or Orlando. The case is still unsolved and he’s considered missing and endangered.
