Distinguishing Characteristics Asian male. Black hair, brown eyes. Daniel is nearsighted and he may wear contact lenses or eyeglasses with black wire frames. His nicknames are Dan and Danny. Daniel’s hair was collar-length and he had blond or red highlights in it at the time of his disappearance. He is right-handed. Daniel is of Chinese descent.

Details of Disappearance:

Daniel Yuen disappeared from Running Springs, California on February 8, 2004. He was a student at Cedu School, a boarding school for troubled teens, and left to buy cigarettes at 10:45 am, never returning. He had only been at the school for ten days, sent there by his parents after struggling with depression and running away from home in New Jersey following a breakup.

Daniel had told his family he was unhappy and scared at Cedu and planned to run away again. A private investigator, hired by the school, searched for him. A month later, there were possible sightings of Daniel panhandling in Hilltop Community Park in San Diego. Scent dogs even picked up his scent, but he wasn’t found.

Cedu School eventually closed down due to bankruptcy and lawsuits from families alleging abuse. Sadly, Daniel wasn’t the only Cedu student to vanish.

In 2018, a mysterious voicemail claimed Daniel was fine and in the San Diego area, not wanting to be found. The investigator returned and showed a photo of what Daniel might look like now. A park employee thought she recognized him with a woman and a baby. She said he acted nervous when asked where he lived. Other witnesses also corroborated seeing the group.

Daniel’s family just wants to know he’s safe. His disappearance remains a mystery.
