- Details of Disappearance:
- Daphne went missing in Oakland, California on July 10, 2013. Her dad, Anthony, said she was kidnapped from his car while he was briefly inside a supermarket. He’d left Daphne in the car with his 87-year-old demented grandmother.
Police initially thought a woman (possibly African-American or Hispanic) had taken Daphne. Witnesses saw a woman with a girl who looked like Daphne, but nobody saw the actual kidnapping.
Anthony was arrested for leaving Daphne with his grandmother, but the charges were dropped. Sadly, ten months later, Anthony died by suicide. Police considered him a person of interest in Daphne’s disappearance, but there wasn’t enough evidence to solve the case. They believe Daphne is likely dead, but her case remains unsolved.
