- Details of Disappearance:
- Darleta disappeared in St. Albans, West Virginia on December 10, 1986. She left her son’s house and was heading home, but never arrived. Two days later, her shoes and glasses were found outside her apartment.
Her estranged husband, Robert, a former police officer, is suspected. He had threatened her, and she’d reported it to the police. Darleta vanished just five days before their divorce hearing. They were in the middle of dividing their property.
Robert committed suicide a year later, and was also a suspect in a shooting of another police officer. Police searched his property for Darleta, but found nothing. Darleta’s disappearance remains a mystery, and police believe she was likely murdered.
