Details of Disappearance:
David disappeared from Jefferson City, Tennessee in 1983. After school, he told his family he was going to a church event nearby. He went to the church, but instead went to a restaurant where he got a free hamburger because of a good grade on his report card.

What happened next is unclear. Some say he watched TV at a friend’s house and went home around 7 p.m. His family didn’t notice he was missing until the next morning; his bed was made to look like he was sleeping. They initially thought he was at a friend’s, which was common.

Police thought he might have run away, but his family didn’t believe that. A tip about him living in Florida was investigated and proved false. His father, now deceased, said he didn’t know where David was.

David was a friendly boy, which worried his family because it meant he might have easily gotten into a car with a stranger. Investigators think he may have been kidnapped and killed, but there’s not enough evidence to solve the case. He was raised by his grandmother but very close to his mother. Even though he wasn’t a top student, everyone described him as bright and likeable. His disappearance remains a mystery.
