Details of Disappearance:
In November 1994, three Canadian friends – Madott, Omar Shearer, and Kent Munro – traveled from Mississauga, Ontario to Marco Island, Florida, with their friend Jeffrey Wandich. They planned a weekend fishing and diving trip.

On November 4th, the four men went scuba diving in Wandich’s boat, the “Sea Esta,” to a shipwreck about 55 miles from Marco Island. After a minor engine problem (which they fixed), they stopped to get bait closer to shore. They then went to the main dive site.

While diving, the Sea Esta sank. The men surfaced to find their boat mostly underwater. They held onto the anchor rope for a while, but the boat sank completely, and the rope broke. The men started swimming towards a nearby light tower in rough seas (6-foot waves).

Wandich panicked briefly, separated from his friends, and eventually reached the tower alone. He was rescued two days later. Madott, Shearer, and Munro were never found.

The FBI investigated, concluding the sinking was accidental and the men likely drowned. However, the families still seek answers, and rumors about what happened persist, but none have been confirmed. A later dive on the sunken Sea Esta suggested it might have been overloaded.
