Details of Disappearance:
On June 20, 1998, a Vietnam War veteran named Deering was dropped off at a train station in Beacon, New York, at 8:00 p.m. He was sick and going to the Montrose VA Hospital. He’d just been discharged from the hospital eight days earlier after a six-week stay. He had all his belongings in a large black plastic bag.

Deering never made it to the hospital and vanished. His sister reported him missing five days later. His car was found abandoned a few days after he disappeared.

Deering had lived in Kingston, New York, Memphis, Tennessee, and North Carolina. He might have gone back to one of those places, or to Florida. He liked music and motorcycles and often wore t-shirts with POW, MIA, or Harley Davidson logos. Because he was sick and might be confused, his family worries he could be living on the streets. His disappearance remains a mystery.
