- On July 12, 1991, at 2:00 p.m., Awalt disappeared from his apartment complex on Fernwood Glendale Road in Spartanburg, South Carolina. He was seen getting into a car with a white man whose identity is unknown. No one has seen or heard from Awalt since. His disappearance wasn’t reported to the police until August 15th.
