Details of Disappearance:
Maine disappeared in San Diego in 1986 after going to a movie. She’d just gotten out of jail and was working as a prostitute and a police informant. Her car was found abandoned a few weeks later, with her belongings inside.

Around the same time, several women connected to Maine or her police officer boyfriend, John Fung, were murdered. One of the murdered women had Maine’s phone number. Fung and other officers were later accused of blackmailing women into becoming informants, but weren’t jailed.

Fung’s lack of interest in helping find Maine made her family suspicious. Although it’s not proven, police believe Maine was murdered, and her case is still unsolved.
