Details of Disappearance:
On May 24, 1994, after attending a poetry reading, David Patchin left a bar in Tallahassee, Florida with a friend. He dropped her off and then drove alone towards Jefferson County. Around 2:00 a.m., he was last seen.

Three hours later, his silver 1972 Volkswagen Beetle was found abandoned in the parking lot of a Jr. Food Store. His skateboard, a book of his poetry, and other belongings were inside the car, untouched. There was no sign of a struggle.

The store manager said she’d seen Patchin there two days earlier with people she described as a “motorcycle gang,” but his girlfriend didn’t recognize them.

Police investigated a theory that Patchin might have been killed by drug dealers who hung around the store. A possible suspect died in prison, leaving the case unsolved. Searches for evidence turned up nothing.

Patchin lived in Lloyd, Florida, studied English at Tallahassee Community College, and worked part-time as a DJ at the college radio station. He liked writing and skateboarding. His disappearance remains a mystery.
