- Details of Disappearance:
- Maria Martinez disappeared from Nacogdoches, Texas on July 13, 2009. She was from Mexico and was in the U.S. without legal permission. Her two young American children were visiting their grandmother in Mexico at the time.
Martinez needed money to bring her kids home and had arranged to borrow some. She was going to the courthouse that day to get her children’s birth certificates, but she never showed up. Three days later, on July 16th, she was reported missing, and her car was found abandoned near Highway 59. There were no signs of a fight.
It’s possible she got a ride south with a trucker to get to her children, but she was never seen again. Police talked to the fathers of her children, but neither is considered a suspect. Investigators think someone took her against her will. The case is still a mystery.
