Details of Disappearance:
Guadalupe disappeared from Santee, California on August 31, 1997. She was supposed to go to Las Vegas with her boyfriend but never made it. Her truck was found at her daycare where she worked. Strangely, all her personal belongings were left in her apartment. This was unusual because she was happy and wouldn’t leave without telling anyone.

Her husband, James, was a suspect. He was described as aggressive and had previously talked about killing his wife and hiding her body. He refused a lie detector test and gave a suspicious account of their last meeting, claiming she left their apartment after an argument. His boat, which he said he used to “cool off”, was found without spark plugs and contained Guadalupe’s checkbook. Guadalupe was afraid of water.

Months later, James moved to Indiana with their children, starting a new life. In 2001, he was charged with Guadalupe’s murder. The evidence was mostly circumstantial, and some people claimed to have seen Guadalupe after she disappeared. Still, James was convicted and sentenced to 25 years to life in prison, although he claims he’s innocent and Guadalupe’s body has never been found.
