- Details of Disappearance:
- On November 3, 1998, two men, Hazelrig and his uncle Donald Fortson, disappeared from Cleveland, Alabama. They were last seen together at a tire store. Earlier that day, they’d worked together, then went home around 3:30 pm. Hazelrig made a phone call, and then they left again to look at a car – Hazelrig collected antique cars. They might have had $3,000 in cash with them.
Later that evening, Hazelrig’s truck was found burned to a crisp. No one was inside, and there was no evidence of a struggle. The fire destroyed any potential clues.
Neither Hazelrig nor Fortson has ever been seen or heard from again. Their families suspect foul play. While both men had past arrests, neither had serious convictions (Fortson had minor alcohol-related offenses, and Hazelrig had no convictions).
Hazelrig lived a simple life on a farm, raising animals and growing vegetables. The disappearance of both men remains a mystery.
