Details of Disappearance:
In March 1976, a woman named Brown disappeared after leaving her apartment in Burlington, Vermont with a man named William John Posey Jr. Posey said he was driving her to Connecticut to see her boyfriend in prison, but Brown never arrived.

Posey became the prime suspect. Blood matching Brown’s was found in his car. Although he was convicted of kidnapping Brown and sentenced to life in prison, he wasn’t charged with murder because her body was never found. He later confessed to killing her, saying he strangled her near the Shelburne Museum in Vermont after she refused to help him sell drugs. He claimed he threw her body off a highway overpass but couldn’t remember the exact location. Brown’s family accepted his confession.

Posey has a history of violence. He was also convicted of murdering a woman in Illinois and was a suspect in another woman’s disappearance in Ohio. He’s currently in prison in North Carolina. Police now plan to search again for Brown’s remains.
