- Details of Disappearance:
- On December 10, 1984, Donna Wardrip vanished from her family’s motel in Bethany, Missouri. She was last seen at noon. Her dog, Moppett, a small Lhasa Apso, disappeared with her.
Wardrip and her sister ran the motel together. When her sister returned that evening, Donna was gone. This was very strange, as Donna was responsible and wouldn’t leave the motel unattended. The only clue was a half-finished cup of coffee and a TV left on in a room she’d been cleaning. Donna’s purse, ID, money, and other belongings were still there.
Police searched, but found nothing. No motel guests saw or heard anything unusual.
Donna had recently visited her father in Texas. He came back to Missouri to help find her. Although her mother had died by suicide years earlier, Donna showed no signs of depression herself and had already bought Christmas presents. Her sister believes Donna would have contacted her if she could. Her father (who has since passed away) thought she was abducted.
The case remains a mystery.
