Details of Disappearance:
In 1982, a graduate student named Miller lived with her boyfriend, James Clayton, in a cottage in Connecticut. They were arguing about the cottage’s ownership; Miller wanted Clayton’s name removed from the deed.

On September 21st, a tenant saw them arguing. Miller was last seen that night. The next day, she disappeared. Clayton didn’t report her missing; her father did weeks later.

The cottage showed signs of a struggle: rearranged furniture, missing couch cushions (Clayton claimed they were at the dry cleaners), blood on the couch (possibly from a dog, Clayton said), and bleached carpet spots. Miller’s jewelry, including her grandmother’s ring (later found at a pawn shop), was gone.

Clayton was the prime suspect. He gave a strange story about Miller leaving with someone else in a brown truck – he owned an identical truck. He refused a lie detector test. His brother pawned Miller’s ring.

Years later, in 2002, Clayton was convicted of attempted murder in a separate case. This led investigators to revisit Miller’s disappearance, but despite new DNA testing, Clayton has never been charged in her case, which remains unsolved. Police suspect he killed her and buried her body on the property.
