Distinguishing Characteristics Caucasian male. Brown hair, blue eyes. Gaines may use the alias names Brad Allen and/or Brad Shewe, and he reportedly has false identification for those names. His ears are pierced and his hair was styled in a buzz cut at the time of his disappearance. He has a very muscular build as a result of weightlifting.

Details of Disappearance:

On November 2, 2007, at 1:30 AM, Gaines was last seen at Wild Bill’s nightclub in Duluth, Georgia. He was drunk or high, possibly got into a fight, and needed a ride home to Snellville. He called friends for a ride but couldn’t get one. Strangely, he didn’t call his parents, even though they always picked him up. His phone was last used around 2:00 AM. He never made it home.

A few months earlier, Gaines had been arrested for underage drinking and other charges. He had a court date weeks after he disappeared, but he never showed up. His family knew about the charges but doesn’t think they’re related to his disappearance.

In 2011, a man named Martin Leonard Wilkie was charged with hiding a body in this case. Another man, Dustin Dylan Glass, a convicted criminal, claimed he and Wilkie assaulted and killed Gaines, then put his body in a toolbox and dumped it in Walton County. Glass’s mother, Thelma Ruth Ballew, said she helped them hide the body in a well, but a search found nothing, and she was charged with lying. Wilkie is awaiting trial, but Glass and Ballew haven’t been charged with Gaines’s disappearance.

Gaines was a college freshman and usually kept in close contact with his family. His disappearance is considered suspicious, and foul play is suspected. The case remains unsolved.
