- Details of Disappearance:
- On January 10, 2006, a woman named Myers disappeared. She was last seen leaving a bar called the St. Lucie Inn in Fort Pierce, Florida, with two unknown men.
Later that night, her ex-boyfriend called. Myers told him the men were wounded Iraq War veterans and she’d invited them home for the night. She ended the call quickly.
Around midnight or 2 a.m., neighbors heard a fight at Myers’s house in Vero Beach. Then, around 3 a.m., her house burned down. The fire was deliberately set. Her car was seen leaving the burning house and was later found burned 80 miles away at a boat ramp.
Myers was never found. Police initially thought she started the fire herself, but now believe she was abducted by the two men she was with at the bar. Descriptions of the men exist, but they haven’t been identified.
It was unusual for Myers to leave her pets behind; they died in the fire. She’d also just finished paying off her car. She worked as a hairdresser and enjoyed motorcycles and poker. Her accounts haven’t been used since her disappearance.
She was declared legally dead in 2007, but her case remains unsolved.
