Distinguishing Characteristics:
Distinguishing Characteristics Caucasian female. Brown hair, blue eyes. Dorothy wore eyeglasses with gold-colored, teardrop-shaped frames at the time of her disappearance. Her upper incisor slightly overlaps her upper front tooth, and she was missing one tooth when she was last seen in 1976. She has freckles across her nose, pierced ears and a mole on her knee. Dorothy’s nicknames are Dee and DeeDee (sometimes spelled “Dee-Dee” or “DeDe”). Her middle name my be spelled “Delila” by some agencies. Her hair was styled in two pigtails at the time of her disappearance.
Details of Disappearance:
On July 22, 1976, Dorothy and her mom went to a mall in Ocala, Florida. Mom took a driving test, and Dorothy returned some sandals and planned to buy her brother a birthday gift. Dorothy was last seen at the mall around 2:00 p.m. She never met back up with her mom, who then reported her missing.

Two hours later, someone saw a girl who looked like Dorothy at a nearby convenience store with one or two grown men. The girl seemed scared. Police aren’t sure if it was her.

Dorothy was a good student, went to church, and helped out at her family’s barbecue stand. She had no problems at home, so police don’t think she ran away. There was a theory that her disappearance might be connected to another missing girls’ case, but that wasn’t proven.

Dorothy’s parents later divorced, and her father passed away. Sadly, her disappearance remains a mystery. A sketch of a possible suspect is available.
