Autrey left her car at home. She had mobility issues and rarely walked, so it was unusual for her to go anywhere without her car. Her purse was later found near a pier, but her body wasn’t.

A month later, Levine confessed to killing Autrey. He said he’d been using drugs and after an argument with Autrey, he hit her, claiming it was accidental. He said he then dumped her body off a cliff. Despite extensive searches, her body was never found.

Levine had a history of drug and alcohol abuse and violence. While police initially didn’t suspect foul play, they investigated and found bloodstains at the house and in Autrey’s car. The evidence suggested she was stabbed, not simply hit.

At trial, the prosecution argued Levine murdered Autrey for her money and house, as she was considering removing him from her will. Levine claimed it was an accident, saying he panicked and hid her body.

He was convicted of first-degree murder and elder abuse and sentenced to life in prison with a minimum of 25 years before parole. Autrey’s family described her as an active and social woman who wouldn’t disappear without telling anyone, making foul play highly likely.
