Details of Disappearance:

On January 15, 2016, in Wilmington, North Carolina, a woman named Spears disappeared. The last time anyone saw her was around 10:45 PM near her home.

Earlier that evening, Spears acted strangely at the police station. She seemed confused and couldn’t even use a pay phone. The night before, her parents tried to get her admitted to a hospital for mental health reasons, but she seemed better later and went home.

The day she disappeared, Spears had breakfast with her parents, then went home. She called her mom at 7 PM saying she’d stay home instead of coming to dinner. Between 7 and 8 PM, she flagged down a van, saying she felt like someone was following her. She talked to a social worker at a nearby Boys & Girls Club, then went back to the police station.

Around 10:45 PM, a neighbor saw her asking for a cigarette, then heading to a store. That’s the last confirmed sighting.

At 11 PM, her boyfriend found her car parked at home, her purse inside, but her phone was missing and went straight to voicemail. He waited for her, then alerted her parents the next day, who reported her missing to the police.

Spears was a responsible person and a good mother, so her disappearance was out of character and concerning, especially given her medical condition. The case remains unsolved.
