- Details of Disappearance:
- On May 28, 2016, a small plane carrying Haronian and his flight instructor, Jason Glazier, disappeared near Catalina Island. They took off from Catalina Island at 1:00 p.m., headed for Van Nuys Airport, but vanished from radar just three minutes later, five miles from the airport. The plane’s tracking device was turned off, so we don’t know how high it was flying. Neither man has ever been found, though an oil slick was seen near where the plane disappeared.
Haronian’s family sued the flight school and the plane’s owner in 2018, claiming Glazier was a reckless pilot with a criminal record. The lawsuit’s outcome is unknown. Haronian has been declared dead, but Glazier is still missing. The mystery of what happened to them remains unsolved.
