- Details of Disappearance:
- In 2003, David Tandler left his family in Brooklyn and moved to Spencer, New York, where he lived a somewhat unstable life, sometimes even sleeping in his car. He lived with roommates near State Road 34-96 and Cowell Road. On June 24, 2005, he disappeared. He told a neighbor he was going to the DMV in Ithaca to return his car plates because his insurance had lapsed. He never showed up, and no one has heard from him since. He was reported missing a few days later.
Strangely, he left everything behind: his car, ID, personal belongings, even photos of his daughter and his valuable mineral collection.
Before he vanished, Tandler knew Abraham Shorey (“The Collegetown Creeper”), a man charged with spying on people. Shorey ran away while awaiting trial, and Tandler helped Shorey’s family. After Tandler disappeared, Shorey was caught in California. Though Shorey wasn’t near Spencer when Tandler vanished, some people suspect he might be connected to his disappearance.
Tandler was a former postal worker from Brooklyn, and his family still lives there. No one knows for sure what happened to him.
