Details of Disappearance:

Fritz lived in Farmingdale, New York with his mom and her husband. He graduated high school in 1974 but was home-schooled his senior year because he had schizophrenia. He went to college briefly, but never worked. He mostly stayed home, reading and watching TV. He needed help getting around and his mom usually drove him.

Fritz went to a day program at Sunrise Psychiatric Clinic in Amityville, New York, five days a week. On January 29, 2002, he was last seen at the clinic around 12:30 p.m. He had a little money for lunch and a quarter for emergencies. Usually, a van took him home. But that day, he didn’t come home. The clinic called his mom around 3:45 p.m., saying they couldn’t find him.

At first, people thought Fritz just walked away and went home. But he never contacted his family again, which was unusual for him. He was officially declared dead in June 2007.
