Details of Disappearance:
On December 14, 1981, Tidwell disappeared. He left his home in Marion, Kentucky, saying he was going to Sturgis, Kentucky, to meet someone about a job. He might have planned to buy alcohol and was possibly drunk when he left.

He was driving a beat-up yellow 1974 Chevrolet Bel Air. The car had a cracked windshield (on the right), rust on the front, and Kentucky license plate AKV 215.

Tidwell used to work on riverboats but was unemployed when he vanished. He’d applied for unemployment. The person he was supposed to meet might have been a supervisor from a river company in southern Illinois, but no one knows for sure.

Tidwell was a good man with no problems, leaving behind his wife and two little girls. He was eventually declared dead, but what happened to him remains a mystery.
