Sol had recently invested $20,000 in Harvey Rader’s car dealership. Rader, a British citizen, was the last person seen with Sol.

The family’s home showed signs of a struggle: blood splatters, a removed carpet, running water in the pool, and a baseball bat near the bar. Oddly, their beds were made. Five days later, some of their passports, wallets, and photos were found scattered along a freeway.

A year later, Rader’s cousin, Ashley Paulle, claimed he witnessed Rader shoot Sol and helped bury the entire family in the desert near Acton (where their belongings were found). Paulle initially got immunity but later failed a lie detector test and was charged as an accessory. These charges were later dropped, and he returned to England.

Rader was eventually arrested in 1988, but his trial ended in two mistrials. He was acquitted in 1992. The evidence against him was circumstantial, and witnesses claimed to have seen Sol alive after the disappearance. Rader’s defense suggested marital problems and Sol’s involvement in illegal activities, which the family denied.

Despite Rader’s acquittal, he remained the prime suspect, even in the unsolved disappearance of another couple, Peter and Joan Davis, around the same time. Extensive searches for the Salomon family have yielded nothing. The case remains unsolved.
