- Details of Disappearance:
- In December 1971, 19-year-old college student Lande disappeared from her home in Philadelphia. Her parents were away, and she’d spent the evening with friends. Late at night, her boyfriend, Bobby Nauss, called and asked her to visit. Her friends warned her against it, but she went anyway.
A neighbor saw her leave her house around 1:50 am and get into a gold car. She was never seen again.
Years later, Nauss’s friend claimed he’d seen Lande’s dead body hanging in a parking garage. He said he helped Nauss bury her in the Pine Barrens of New Jersey. Police searched, but couldn’t find her body.
At Nauss’s trial, he said Lande killed herself, but his friend testified that Nauss confessed to the murder. Psychiatrists also didn’t believe Lande was suicidal. Nauss was convicted of murder and sentenced to life in prison. He escaped in 1983, but was caught in 1990. He’s still in prison today.
Lande’s body has never been found, but everything points to her boyfriend being responsible for her death.
