- Details of Disappearance:
- Sloan disappeared from her home near Polson, Montana on April 16, 2005. Her family reported her missing a week later when she didn’t go to her son’s graduation.
Her truck was found a week after that, parked at a shopping center in Missoula, packed as if she’d gone on a trip. This is strange because she left behind her passport and a lot of money in the bank.
At the time, Sloan was facing tax charges but was out on bail. Her lawyer said the charges weren’t serious enough to make her run away. Her family says disappearing like this was completely out of character.
Shortly before her disappearance, Sloan bailed out her boyfriend, William Gholson, who had been in jail for incest and was on parole. Gholson moved in with Sloan, and while there, he used her credit to buy things and even applied for credit cards in her and her son’s names. Ten days after Sloan vanished, her son kicked Gholson out of the house.
Gholson later got in trouble again – for drugs and assault – and went to prison for 20 years. Police think he might know something about Sloan’s disappearance, but they haven’t been able to charge him with anything. Sloan’s case remains a mystery.
