- Details of Disappearance:
- Enrique Rios disappeared from his home in Esparto, California, on October 16, 2016. He left without explanation, after sending his mom strange text messages that she didn’t believe he wrote. These messages said he was at a friend’s house and then that he was leaving for a while due to stress.
Enrique left behind important things like his ID and last paycheck, making a simple runaway scenario unlikely. Esparto is a rural area, and he didn’t have a car, so leaving would have been difficult.
Three weeks later, Enrique’s close friend, Elijah Moore, also vanished. Both boys were on probation for a past fight and worked together at a construction training program. Elijah had never run away before.
Because of the similarities and the unusual circumstances, police now suspect foul play, even though the cases are still officially listed as runaways. Enrique’s family and the police believe the disappearances are connected, and the mystery remains unsolved.
