Details of Disappearance:
Erica disappeared on October 21, 1997. She was last seen between 9 and 10 pm at a tanning salon in Brooksville, Kentucky, with friends. The next day, her car was found abandoned about a mile away, unlocked, with her belongings inside but no sign of her. Her keys were later found nearby. There was no evidence of a crime at the scene.

Police investigated several people. One man, who was questioned, later killed his wife and then himself. However, he was cleared as a suspect before his death.

Another person of interest is Shane Simcox, an acquaintance who was with Erica the night she vanished. He said he got a ride home from her around 9 pm. Simcox has a criminal record and refused a lie detector test, but maintains his innocence. No strong evidence links him to her disappearance.

Erica was a good student, had a boyfriend, and planned to go to college. There’s no reason to believe she ran away. Despite some minor conflicts with friends before her disappearance, police believe something happened to her.

Unfortunately, there are few clues, and her case remains unsolved. Her parents have since passed away. Because of the lack of evidence of a crime, it’s currently investigated as a missing person case.
