Details of Disappearance:
Faith Lippe vanished on October 3, 2008, from her home in Cortlandt, New York. Her husband, Werner, said she left with an unknown person in a Jeep after running errands. She left behind her purse and other belongings, but expensive earrings were missing. Werner reported her missing a day later, after first checking on his boat.

After Faith disappeared, Werner threw away her clothes and food. He initially told police he didn’t think anything was wrong. However, he later confessed to murdering her, saying he hit her with a piece of wood, burned her body in a 55-gallon drum, and then disposed of the drum. He made this confession to a friend who was secretly recording for the police. Werner, a jeweler who worked with high-temperature fires, even described the color of the ashes.

The police investigation revealed a troubled marriage marked by arguments and verbal abuse. Werner and Faith were in the process of a divorce and had a history of domestic disputes. Werner had even recorded their arguments.

Werner’s first trial ended in a hung jury. However, he was convicted in a second trial and faces a lengthy prison sentence. Faith’s body has never been found.
