- On July 3, 1975, Cantea disappeared. He was last seen returning a borrowed record to a friend’s house. He seemed worried and left quickly. The next day, his friends noticed he was missing and contacted his family.
His apartment was checked; his car, a 1965 Mustang, was still parked outside. His wallet, keys, and other belongings were scattered on his dresser, but everything else was normal.
Cantea’s mom said he seemed happy before he vanished. He didn’t have a girlfriend, enemies, or any legal problems. She got a legal document declaring him dead in 2005, but the mystery of what happened to him remains unsolved.
