- Distinguishing Characteristics Caucasian male. Black hair, hazel eyes. Shanley wore a reddish-black goatee at the time of his November 2006 disappearance. His right ear is pierced and his left ear is double-pierced. He has a scar on his left thumb. Shanley has the following tattoos: the letters “GFID” above a red heart pierced by a knife, the name “Zander” and the date “07/04/03” on his chest, a skull with blue flames on his right leg, a very detailed knife extending from the crease of his right elbow down to his wrist, and a Chinese good luck symbol in black ink on his right bicep.

- Shanley vanished on November 23, 2006, after being seen at the Double Deuce bar in East St. Louis, Illinois, around 1:30 a.m. He’s never been seen or heard from since.
His apartment showed he’d been there briefly: his jeans were on the floor, but his wallet and keys were gone, even though his money, phone, and ID were left on a table. His truck was parked outside. It seemed like he stopped to change clothes and then left.
Shanley was broke, with almost no money and no credit cards. He did odd jobs for a living, and had a $200 job lined up on November 26th that he missed. He was a creature of habit, not one to travel or miss important events. He missed Thanksgiving with his family and a crucial custody hearing, which his mother said was completely out of character.
The police in Cahokia, Illinois are still investigating his disappearance.
