- Details of Disappearance:
- In 1984, a man named Kergan disappeared after leaving a bar in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, with a teenage dancer named Erika Mulla. He had $2,000 on him. His pink Cadillac was later found abandoned with blood in the trunk.
Police suspected Mulla and her boyfriend, Ronald Dunnagan, were responsible. They found evidence of a struggle and blood in their apartment, and Mulla’s diary hinted at a plan to kill Kergan. Although arrested and charged with murder, they were released for lack of evidence three months later.
The case remained cold for over 25 years. Then, DNA testing proved Kergan’s blood was in the apartment, leading to their rearrests in 2012. Dunnagan was let go, but Mulla pleaded guilty to manslaughter and testified that she and Dunnagan poisoned Kergan’s wine before Dunnagan smothered him. This led to Dunnagan’s conviction for second-degree murder and a life sentence.
Kergan, who co-owned Sonic restaurants with his brother, was declared legally dead in 1986. His body has never been found.
