- On August 1, 1979, Gutierrez disappeared from Wenatchee, Washington, where he was working in an apple orchard. Nobody has heard from him since. He had a Colorado driver’s license and enjoyed backpacking. He was planning a cross-country move to Maine at the end of August 1979. The police still haven’t figured out what happened to him.
