Details of Disappearance:
In July 1976, a woman named Adams disappeared after visiting a bar, the Artesian Lounge, in Herculaneum, Missouri. She went there to meet a man, Jimmie Lee Mills, who she’d met before. They danced and seemed to have a good time. Mills offered to drive her home, but Adams vanished.

Mills’s story is that they left the bar together, tried to go to another bar in East St. Louis, but it was closed. He claims he dropped her off at a donut shop around 4:00 a.m. However, this is suspicious because Mills had a criminal record, including attempted rape and later convictions for other crimes. He was even out on bail for a rape charge when Adams disappeared.

Interestingly, another woman, Cynthia Horan, who lived next to Mills, also disappeared in 1985. Her body was found years later, but Mills was never charged in either case, though he was a suspect in both. He denies any involvement in Adams’s disappearance.

Adams was a mother of ten, a churchgoer, and it was unusual for her to be at a bar. Police suspect foul play and her disappearance remains a mystery. Mills was in prison, but was scheduled to be released (this information is outdated since the text refers to a 2019 release date).
