Details of Disappearance:
Hannah disappeared on June 4, 1997, in McCloud, California. She was seen leaving her boyfriend’s apartment around 10 pm and walking home, just a couple of blocks away. She never arrived.

At first, people thought she ran away. She’d recently broken up with her boyfriend (who was moving) and her parents had divorced. But she left almost everything behind – clothes, money, even her guitar – suggesting she didn’t plan to leave. Her family says she wouldn’t run away.

The investigation focused on the Henlines, a couple who lived nearby. They were the last people to see Hannah, and also the last people to see another young woman, Karen Mero, who disappeared four months earlier from the same area. The Henlines’ house was searched.

In 2012, Ed Henline Sr. and his son were charged with Hannah’s murder, but the charges were dropped in 2013 due to lack of evidence. Police say the case could be reopened if new evidence is found.

Hannah’s mother believes the police didn’t take the case seriously enough at first. Because of all the strange circumstances, police suspect foul play was involved in Hannah’s disappearance.
