Details of Disappearance:
On October 20, 2000, Jean Chamblen disappeared. She was last seen around 7:00 PM in Winston, Oregon, after dropping off her grandson at Douglas High School. She was driving her damaged red 1990 Toyota Corolla station wagon (Oregon plate QMV-062; a picture is available).

A month later, hunters found her abandoned car near a ravine in the Glen Creek area, far from where she was last seen. Chamblen was gone. Searches didn’t find any trace of her.

Her family thinks she wouldn’t have driven to such a remote place unless she was helping someone. Police aren’t sure if she drove the car there herself or if someone else left it. Investigators knew she had mild memory problems, so it’s possible she got confused and wandered off. Her family says she was never one to disappear without telling anyone.

She lived in Tenmile, Oregon, and was a well-respected volunteer. A memorial service was held for her a year later, but her disappearance remains a mystery.
