- Details of Disappearance:
- Elvis went missing from Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. The last time anyone saw her was 2:00 a.m. on December 18, 2013, after a first date. She called her roommate at 3:00 a.m., and that was the last contact anyone had with her.
Two days later, her car – a dark green 2011 Dodge Intrepid – was found abandoned at a boat landing, her purse, keys, and phone missing. This was a short drive from her parents’ home.
Elvis had been involved with a married man, Sidney Moorer. Although they’d broken up, they spoke several times the night she disappeared, their last conversation at 6:00 a.m. Elvis’s roommate said Elvis was upset and crying, believing Sidney was leaving his wife for her. Sidney denied this.
Two men, William Christopher Barrett and Garrett Ryan Starnes, were charged with obstructing justice in the case for interfering with the investigation and spreading false information online.
Sidney Moorer and his wife, Tammy, were arrested. They were initially charged with indecent exposure and obstruction of justice, then with Elvis’s kidnapping and murder. Later, the murder charges were dropped. Sidney’s first kidnapping trial ended in a mistrial. He was eventually found guilty of obstruction of justice and sentenced to ten years. Tammy was convicted of kidnapping and conspiracy to kidnap and received a sixty-year sentence. Sidney was later found guilty of kidnapping and conspiracy to commit kidnapping and sentenced to thirty years.
Police believe Sidney and Tammy lured Elvis to the boat landing where her car was found.
Elvis was a responsible young woman with two jobs and a new job offer. Her disappearance is considered suspicious.
