Details of Disappearance:
Jack and Patricia Girous disappeared from Clayton, Missouri on June 11, 1975. Their daughter, JoAnne, said they left for a funeral. Jack took a gun with him, and they got into a large green car (either a limousine or Cadillac). They never came back.

Their son reported them missing on Father’s Day (June 17th) because he couldn’t reach them and found their home empty, their dog neglected, and all their belongings (cars, toothbrushes, even uncashed paychecks) still there. The house was unlocked.

JoAnne had argued with her father the night before; he didn’t approve of her boyfriend or drug use and wanted her to leave. She moved out the next day. While everyone in the family took lie detector tests, JoAnne’s results were unclear because she was upset and may have been using drugs.

Police found a car matching JoAnne’s description, but it was just picking up a neighbor. Jack and Patricia were both responsible people with good jobs (he was a tool-and-die maker, she a math teacher) who wouldn’t just vanish without notice, especially since they had recently bought land to build a retirement home.

The case is unsolved, and police suspect foul play.
