Details of Disappearance:
Jamel disappeared on May 25, 1994, from his mother Kelly’s apartment building in Toledo, Ohio. His mom said she left him on the back steps for five minutes, and when she came back, he was gone. He’s never been seen or heard from since.

Kelly’s boyfriend at the time, Gary Thomas (they later married and divorced), became a person of interest. A month after Jamel vanished, Thomas’s cousin accused him of violence, claiming he got angry when she mentioned Jamel’s disappearance. Both Kelly and Gary were uncooperative with the police investigation, and police found no evidence Jamel ever lived in the apartment. No one else in the building ever saw him. Because of the lack of cooperation and evidence, and because some agencies believe someone other than family was involved, Jamel’s case remains a mystery.
