- On December 5, 2017, at 9:00 PM, Cole’s small boat (a ten-foot skiff) flipped over in the Gastineau Channel near Juneau, Alaska. The Coast Guard saved two women, one man, and a dog who were also on the boat. However, Cole and another man, Sheridan Stringer, were never found and are presumed to have drowned.
