Details of Disappearance:
In September 1999, David Yarbrough vanished from his family’s 200-acre farm near Palmyra, Missouri. He was last seen at home that morning. Strangely, he left all his belongings, including his wallet and car, behind. His mother initially thought he’d be back soon, but when he didn’t return and didn’t contact anyone by noon, she got worried. He hasn’t been seen or heard from since.

The police investigation was initially criticized as insufficient. A new sheriff took office in 2000, and a renewed investigation followed several reported sightings in St. Louis, Texas, and Memphis, but these were all false. In 2002, a thorough search of the family farm—which includes tough, hilly terrain—turned up nothing.

Rumors linked Yarbrough to Jim Gibson, a local man later convicted of child molestation, but Gibson was cleared of involvement. Police believe others in the community may have information.

Yarbrough worked as a road paver, enjoyed pool, and liked Mountain Dew. He didn’t smoke or drink. Despite the investigations, his disappearance remains a mystery.
