Details of Disappearance:
After his father died in 1982, Kimball, age 13, acted strangely – he didn’t seem sad at all. He was diagnosed with a mental illness (schizoaffective disorder) in 1985. Over the years, he had good and bad times, needing hospital stays sometimes, but he managed to graduate high school and hold down jobs while taking his medicine.

He lived in a halfway house in Maywood, Illinois, near his family in Oak Park. During an Easter visit in April 1993, he got upset about a broken stereo, refused to go to the hospital, and went for a walk. He vanished and hasn’t been seen since.

His family searched everywhere. They found out he’d stopped going to work after he disappeared. A year later, a police officer in South Bend, Indiana (far from his home) found a confused young man who looked like Kimball. The officer thought he might be drunk, gave him a test, and let him go. Only later, seeing a missing person poster, did the officer realize he might have seen Kimball.

Police think someone might have kidnapped Kimball, and the police in Maywood, Illinois are investigating.
