Details of Disappearance:
In December 1963, Army Sergeant Haynes disappeared. He was hitchhiking from Maryland, where he lived with his family, to his parents’ house in West Virginia for Christmas. He never arrived.

Police found some of his belongings – his wallet and a bloody chain – but not Haynes. They believe three men, Trump, Cozort, and Cox, murdered him. The theory is that they fought with Haynes, followed him, and ran him over with their car. They allegedly bragged about repeatedly running over his body to make sure he was dead, then burying him.

One suspect, Trump, was arrested in 1971 but released due to lack of evidence. Cozort was questioned but never charged, and Cox was never found. Even though it’s unlikely anyone will be prosecuted, police still want to find Haynes’s body to solve the mystery. His case remains unsolved.
