- Details of Disappearance:
- On April 8, 1972, Kentucky State Trooper James W. McNeely disappeared during a flood rescue on the Kentucky River near Frankfort. His boat went over a dam with another trooper, David Childs, who sadly drowned. Childs’ body was found, but McNeely’s was never recovered. Even though his body wasn’t found, it’s believed he also drowned. A memorial service and a highway section were named in his honor many years later. McNeely left behind a wife and three children.
