- Details of Disappearance:
- Kelsey disappeared in Syracuse, New York on August 22, 1984. She was shopping with her family when her ex-boyfriend, Ronald Tillinghast, proposed. Kelsey said no, and they left together on his bike. Tillinghast said he dropped her off later that day, but she never came home.
Her family reported her missing the next day. Police initially thought she might have left on her own, but since she never contacted anyone, they suspect something bad happened. Kelsey wasn’t the type to disappear.
Tillinghast, who had dated Kelsey for eight years, helped with the investigation at first, but then vanished. A month later, he was arrested for breaking his probation and claimed he’d been camping. Police searched his campsite, but found nothing.
Tillinghast is a registered sex offender convicted of attempted rape (in 1999) and has a past theft charge. He still lives in Syracuse.
Despite the investigation, Kelsey’s disappearance remains a mystery.
