Details of Disappearance:
In June 1991, a woman named Hughes vanished from Macon, Georgia. She was last seen on June 8th, but had called her mom at 1 a.m. that day saying she was coming over – she never did. Her family reported her missing two weeks later.

Hughes had five daughters who lived with their aunt at the time. Hughes’ boyfriend, who lived with her on Oglethorpe Street, was the last person to see her, at 10 p.m. on June 7th. Before leaving, she borrowed $10 and took his gun, which he later found at a different house. They had a violent relationship, and Hughes’s mother suspected her boyfriend, but he was never charged. The boyfriend is now dead.

Hughes had a minor criminal record (four shoplifting arrests, the last being on her birthday that year). Police think she may have been a victim of a serial killer, but there’s not much evidence to go on.
